Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 2 October 2026
These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the HeyCommune mobile application and related services (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Who can use HeyCommune
You must be at least 18 years old and capable of entering into a binding agreement. You should use HeyCommune only in connection with a residential community you genuinely belong to or are authorised to manage.
2. Your account
- You sign in using your mobile number and a one-time code. Keep your phone and any PIN/biometric unlock secure, and don't let others access your account.
- You're responsible for the activity that happens under your account.
- Provide accurate information and keep it up to date.
3. Communities, roles and admins
- A community is created and managed by its members. Admins and treasurers have additional tools (such as billing, funds, settings and member approvals) and are responsible for how they use them.
- Admins are responsible for the accuracy of the data they enter — including rates, charges, bills and member details — and for complying with their society's rules and applicable law.
- Joining a community may require admin approval, and admins may approve, remove or change the role of members in their community.
4. Acceptable use
When using HeyCommune, you agree not to:
- post unlawful, abusive, harassing, defamatory, hateful, misleading or obscene content;
- spam, scam, impersonate others, or infringe anyone's rights (including privacy and intellectual property);
- upload malware or attempt to disrupt, overload, reverse-engineer or gain unauthorised access to the Service;
- use another resident's data for purposes outside running the community;
- use the Service for any illegal purpose.
We may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these Terms or harm the community.
5. Your content
You keep ownership of the content you post. By posting, you grant HeyCommune a licence to host, store and display that content as needed to operate the Service and show it to the relevant members of your community. You are responsible for the content you post and confirm you have the right to share it.
6. Maintenance dues and payments
- Maintenance charges, fund contributions and other dues are set and owed to your society, not to HeyCommune. HeyCommune provides the tools to calculate, present and collect them.
- When online payment is available, payments are processed by a third-party payment gateway. By paying, you also agree to that provider's terms. HeyCommune is not responsible for the payment network's availability or decisions.
- Receipts and balances shown in the app reflect the records in the system. For any dispute about an amount, refund or adjustment, contact your society's committee/treasurer; refunds (if any) are determined by your society and the payment provider.
7. Subscription plans
Some features (such as the maintenance & money suite) require your society to hold a paid subscription. The subscription is purchased and managed by the community; the app reflects its status. Features may be limited if a subscription lapses. Residents are not charged by HeyCommune for using the app.
8. Marketplace
The marketplace lets neighbours buy, sell, rent, give away or request items. Listings and transactions are between members directly. HeyCommune is not a party to, and does not verify, guarantee or take responsibility for, any listing, item or transaction. Deal with neighbours carefully and use your own judgement.
9. Emergency features
Emergency contacts and SOS are convenience features and may not always be available or reach everyone. They are not a substitute for professional emergency services — in a genuine emergency, contact your local emergency services first.
10. Service availability
We work to keep the Service running reliably, but we provide it on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We may change, suspend or discontinue features, and we don't guarantee the Service will always be uninterrupted or error-free.
11. Disclaimers & limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, HeyCommune disclaims all warranties not expressly stated in these Terms, and is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for loss of data, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
12. Suspension & termination
You can stop using the Service at any time and request account deletion. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms or where necessary to protect users or the Service.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of India, and any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the competent courts in India.
